Audrey Tautou to Play Coco Chanel

Audrey Tautou to Play Coco Chanel

French ingénue Audrey Tautou (perhaps you remember her from "The DaVinci Code" or hopefully from her breakout role in "Amelie") has signed on to play Coco Chanel in a bio-pic about the famous designer for Warner Brothers. Wonderful casting since Tautou is the current Chanel spokesmodel.

The Hollywood Reporter further tell us that Karl Lagerfeld, art director for Chanel, has signed on to recreate those original Coco costumes like the iconic Chanel suit, the "little boy" frocks for women of the 1920s and her popularization of the little black dress.

The film will be adapted from the French language biography "L'irreguliere" - but if you'd like to get into a good English Coco bio to gear up for the movie then I recommend "Chanel: A Woman on Her Own." I read it some years ago and it was great. Coco had a much more bizarre, erratic life than I would have guessed.

"A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future." - Coco Chanel
